A Guide to Tap Colours and Finishes

Layla Sawyer -

Tapware colour and finish can really bring together your space. Between Chrome, Matte Black, Brushed Brass, Warm Brushed Nickel, Antique Brass & Gunmetal — each brings its own vibe to your bathroom, kitchen or laundry. But taps also need to handle constant handling, water and soap — the surface should resist water marks, fingerprints and general wear. Understanding the differences between each colour finish will help you make the right choice for your space.

Tapware: Kitchen, laundry and bathroom finishes

Here’s an honest rundown of what to expect from each colour and finish.

Chrome

Chrome is a classic. It has a bright, reflective surface that goes with pretty much every decor style. Some will say that chrome isn't particularly good at hiding watermarks and fingerprints, but Yabby chrome tapware is designed to do exactly this.

Matte Black

Matte Black is another hugely popular tapware choice. It looks great in contemporary, industrial and mid-century homes but isn’t limited to these styles. This tapware finish is super low maintenance — it naturally hides fingerprints and water spots.

Brushed Brass

Brushed Brass is a warm metal tone with a textured surface. The brushed finish hides small scratches and marks better than polished surfaces. This colour option goes nicely in both traditional and modern spaces.

Gunmetal

Can't choose between black and chrome? Gunmetal is the in-between. Like all of our tapware, it resists fingerprints, watermarks and scratches. Gunmetal is neutral but looks particularly good in industrial, modern and minimalist homes.

Finishes look different under showroom lights compared to home lighting. If you want to see them in person, you have two options: order a sample or visit our showroom. Our team can show you how the finishes look in different lighting and walk you through the differences between each.
